Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is a procedure performed to treat and save a tooth impacted by infection or significant inflammation. During the procedure, the endodontist meticulously withdraws the patient’s infected or damaged pulp tissue, cleans and disinfects the root canal system, and then seals it to prevent reinfection and aid tooth preservation and function.
Your Questions, Answered
Q: Is root canal treatment as painful as people say?
A: Many of our patients share that their experience is far more pleasant than they anticipated. In fact, it is not uncommon for patients to feel so relaxed during root canal treatment that they even fall asleep. If treatment is recommended, we begin by applying a topical anesthetic gel to gently numb the area. We then administer a small amount of local anesthesia to ensure you remain calm throughout the procedure. For most patients, the numbness typically subsides within two to three hours.
